"In the 1940s the Banabans were resettled in Fiji (as mining was) gradually consuming more and more of the island's surface and destroying its garden lands and crop trees." (p.33)

(two texts from the book, the first from Rainbird, Paul 2004, 'The Archeology of Micronesia'. The second from Campbell, IC. 2003. 'Worlds Apart A History of of the Pacific Islands'.)
