| "This book is a collaboration between myself and Elizabeth Banfield. I gave her four prints which I had made in Scotland from an old plate previously etched by Jo Ganter. (with permission). The original image was called “Motherland” as I was making an Australian image in the setting of the Northern hemisphere, where stories and words are familiar but the land is foreign. I often felt like Alice through the looking glass as the cultural heritage is the same. But what I love most about Australia - its empty wilderness and ancient culture- is not there in Scotland. To me the blackness of the water is the looking glass through which I had stepped." Bronwyn Rees |
