Section III of the editorial starts, "There are few who are not thoroughly conversant with the myth and poems of Ern Malley, or perhaps it would be safer to say that there will be few who are not aware that two Sydney poets, Harold Stewart and James McAuley, claim to have 'concocted' these poems in the course of an afternoon with the object of 'debunking' the modern literary movement and that these poems were accepted by us as very fine poetry and published in full in a special issue of 'Angry Penguins'."
